About Kruin Park

Kruin Park lies on the narrow ridge called Lukasrand (Lukas’s Ridge) to the east of the Telkom Tower in Pretoria.

It follows an east-west quartzite and shale ridge, geologically of the Pretoria Series within the Transvaal Supergroup, and it is a western outrider of the Bronberge.

Friends of Kruin Park

In conjunction with the City of Tshwane,  Kruin Park is looked after by a group of volunteers called the “Friends of Kruin Park”.

The Friends undertake various projects to control invasive vegetation, and ensure the reserve is kept clean, safe, and accessible to the community.

Plant Database

Want to identify the flora in Kruin Park?  We now have our own database!

Mark Theron, Friends’ chairman -2019, produced this wonderful compilation of various wild flowers, herbaceous perennials, shrubs and trees you might find in Kruin Park and other nature reserves in the city.
